The Sun is Awake

(Baeszler/Rubin)

I was amazed today. Butterflies and hummingbirds scattering away

All in the morning haze. I heard the sound of wedding bells summoning the trains

Now that the sun is awake

Clear as a frozen lake. Ripples as my consciousness and soul evaporate

Calm as a windless day. The gentle ocean steals a piece of me with every wave

Now that the sun is awake
Dreams that the night couldn’t take

Night is falling down. Orange surrounds your face
Embers light this town. Locked in your embrace
‘til it looks like another place
